Training and therapeutic approaches
I have lived in Melbourne since arriving in Australia from South America in 1975. Now married with five grown-up children, I earned a Bachelor of Behavioural Sciences with Highest Class Honours from La Trobe University. After graduating I completed a two-year clinical internship at the Cairnmillar Institute.
I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Mindfulness Training. Since 2004 I have also been researching the application of positive psychology in clinical practice. I specialise in marital therapy and family therapy, with postgraduate certification in both fields. Throughout my career I have applied knowledge from the wisdom traditions through the practice of transpersonal psychology, and I hold a Diploma of Transpersonal Psychology and a Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis.
Working collaboratively with you
I use a number of modalities to help you achieve good health and wellbeing. In our first session we will work together to select the most appropriate one for you. My aim is to help you achieve what you would like to achieve in the shortest possible time.
Choosing the right therapist is a crucial factor in successful therapy. I invite you to explore this website to get a sense of me and of the nature of my practice, and I hope your visit is a helpful one.
Background and experience
The practice of clinical psychology is a source of great joy to me, as is the study of human experience, including experiences that go beyond the personal self. I have studied the mind-body connection since my youth, and watching people's lives change has always inspired me.
To my clinical practice I bring over 25 years' experience, as well as training in multiple facets of psychology, relationship counselling, family therapy, consciousness studies and philosophy.
